COL FB: West Virginia 28, Connecticut 24

Morgantown, W.Va. -- Noel Devine's late 56-yard touchdown run Saturday gave No. 22 West Virginia a 28-24 Big East Conference win over emotional Connecticut.

The Huskies played the contest in honor of slain cornerback Jasper Howard, who died last weekend after being stabbed during an on-campus incident.

Both squads took part in a pre-game moment of silence in Howard's memory.

Devine's electric run erased a 24-21 deficit with 2:10 left in the fourth quarter. Overall, he gained 178 yards on 23 carries.

Quarterback Jarrett Brown passed for 153 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while wide receiver Jock Sanders added eight receptions for 81 yards for the Mountaineers (6-1, 2-0 Big East), who have won four straight.

Cody Endres led UConn with 378 passing yards, but threw three second-half interceptions.

Marcus Easley caught five passes for one touchdown and 157 yards, and Kashif Moore caught a touchdown pass for the Huskies (4-3, 1-2).
