Los Angeles, Oct. 14: Hollywood's Paramount Pictures has announced actor Chris Pine will play Jack Ryan in the next installment of the film franchise inspired by Tom Clancy's novels.">
The iconic CIA analyst character was previously played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.
Pine is best known for playing young James T. Kirk in the Paramount blockbuster "Star Trek" this summer.
"Tom Clancy created an unforgettable character with Jack Ryan. With Chris in this role, we've taken our first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise," Paramount Film Group President Adam Goodman said in a statement issued to Variety.
