Acer's 3935: Stylish, Sturdy and Inexpensive

Acer Aspire's 3935: Despite strong specifications, the price doesn't bore a hole in your pocket

Acer Aspire's 3935 gives competitors the run for their money, offering almost the same features at a cheaper price.

Review: Acer Aspire 3935 13" Laptop

Rating: ***\ {3.5/5}

Upside: Sleek and stylish, impressive battery life, polished design, decent processing power and an extremely good bargain.

Downside: Mouse buttons need a firm click, lacks gaming credentials, no HDMI and eSATA ports, supports only VGA-video output.

Overview: With its 3935 model released on the April 27th, Acer has re-launched itself in the Laptop market. The hands-on experience with Acer Aspire’s 3935, which does not bore a hole in your wallet too, leaves you wanting more.

Acer’s 3935 is in stiff competition with the Apple’s MacBook and Dell Adamo. But with a cheeky price tag of $899, rather than $1200 (MacBook) and $1000 (Adamo), this one beats the other two.

About the specifications, Acer is loaded with 3GB of RAM, an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 250GB of hard disk space and a sleek metal finish.

This charming laptop could have been the first priority of all Laptop buyers had it not compromised on the gaming credentials by missing the integrated graphics in the system. Other shortcomings of Acer’s 3935 are the lack of HDMI and an eSATA port. The mouse control does have a multi-purpose touch button but that needs a firm click to register. The VGA mode of video output, too, leaves you disappointed.

The Laptop does manage to impress with its keyboard which is at par with the likes of Apple, Sony and Dell laptops. The keyboard is more comprehensive and spacious and has a robust body. The battery life is superb with a running time of over three and a half hours. The resolution of the screen is slightly better than those in the 13 inch range, except the MacBook.

With the cost at $899, this one is indeed a better deal than its competitors’. Acer also manages to pack in a one year warranty with the laptop and an improved 24/7 toll free phone-line for technical support.

Acer’s 3935 is better for multitasking options like playing media files, working on office documents or surfing the Internet. But if you are a gaming freak, this one strictly not recommended.
