I think you are absolutely right that credit cards are not for everyone. It can be very difficult to resist the urge to spend beyond your means, and everyone has most certainly done that at one point or another (or in my case many times).
One problem with completely removing credit cards from your life is that you begin to not only limit the amount that you spend, which is the idea, but you also limit how and where you can make purchases. This can be avoided however by using prepaid credit cards.
