A severe storm hit the major Northeast’s biggest cities in US, due to which more than 2000 flights were cancelled on Friday, according to the airline and government officials.

 <p>All the major airlines cancelled their flights due to which there was a little activity at the busy New York Airport.</p>
<p>A huge number of cancellations were also reported in Philadelphia and Boston. The snowstorm accompanied with sleet and heavy rains made life impossible for human beings in many parts of US. It thwarted many operations.</p>
<p>According to Diane Spitaliere, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, which runs the nation’s air traffic system said, “The airlines are making this decision. It is a business decision”.</p>
<p>Last month JetBlue’s image was blotted when several of its flights got stuck on the runways at JFK airport due to a snowstorm hitting the city on February 14th.</p>
<p>The cancellations of flights didn’t put a blot on JetBlue’s image but the passengers stranded in the plane on runway for hours, some up to 11 hours put a shame to their name. JetBlue had to cancel more than 250 of its 500 flights and ended up canceling over 1000 flights that week.</p>
<p>But JetBlue saved their image by offering to pay to the customers for their flights even if they want to take other airlines.</p>
<p>Delta Airlines cancelled 600 flights largely in the New York area. US Airways Group Inc. cancelled more then 1000 flights from New England.</p>
<p>The other big airlines like the United Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Southwest Airlines operations were also obstructed due to the snowstorm.</p>
<p>All the Airlines felicitated the passengers affected by the storm by waiving of their fees and giving them options for rebooking and future travel.</p>
