What ever happened to forgiveness?
Everybody has made stupid mistakes while driving. No one is perfect. The way I see it, this was an accident, plain and simple.
Have you ever driven on the 405? Driving on the freeways in Southern California, as well as in many areas, is no easy task. There are several lanes, hundreds of cars, traffic slows so quickly that it is easy to get distracted, if only for a moment, and not notice the change of pace.
It would be different if she had been driving recklessly, speeding, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. That doesn't seem to be the case. She wasn't even on a cell phone. It was just an accident.
I'm sure Brandy feels terrible. I'm sure the family of the victim feels terrible as well, but what good will it do them to sue Brandy? If they were compassionate people, then they would accept that this was simply an accident. Suing someone for $50 million is insane! Their daughter has hardly been dead a month and now they're trying to get filthy rich! What is the matter with people?
Those of you who want to have Brandy locked up and sued for all she's worth should think about this...Have you ever made a mistake, done something really stupid that could have gotten someone hurt, even killed? Wouldn't you like others to have compassion towards you....to forgive you?
Think about it....Have you ever changed lanes quickly, maybe just glancing in your mirror, forgetting to look over your shoulder? I have done this before, most people have. Well, what if there had been a motorcyclist in my blind spot? I could have killed them and it would have been my fault. Yet, it was still an accident; would I deserve to go to prison for that? Should I be sued for $50 mil? Also, have you ever gone over the speed limit? If a child were to dart out in front of your car, the speed you were going would be a major factor in whether or not that child died. Do you see what I mean? A lot of people do stupid things when they drive. We all know that we're taking a risk when we get into our cars. Accidents occur everyday and there is always someone at fault. Would you want your family or friends to go to prison or get sued for millions if they caused an accident, in a little moment of carelessness?
I believe that what goes around, comes around, so good luck to that family! They're trading empathy, compassion, forgiveness, and respect for their daughter's memory for $50 mil. If they win that lawsuit, I hope they enjoy their money.... and that it was worth the trade!
