Everyone has accidents.
Some understand an accident occurred _not_by_choice_, but because it unplanned... aka.. accident.
Insurance will cover some of the amount requested. I am sure Brandy will pay something to them, maybe not by law, but out of a way to offer a healing on her part as well.
No drugs, no drinking, smoking or cell use was cited as the cause of the accident. I drive enough to see people make haste decisions while driving that cause many people to react.
What was the cause for the slowing in traffic? Did someone else tap their brakes and over react causing traffic to stop faster than usual?
I agree. A death on your mind for the rest of your life is enough punishment.
For the family, money can't replace the daughter, but it can help cover all the bills that they will have as a reminder of their daughters death. The least that can be done is to cover all expenses.
I sure hope this never happens in my family. Being hit head on by a drunk driver and my family not sueing because my dad said "everyone sues, just not me", has stayed with me in the back of my mind as I see people with less of a reason to sue, get away with things.
