Google’s CEO joins Apple's board

Eric Schmidt, CEO of Goggle Inc. has joined the board of directors of Apple Computer Inc. The move creates a high-profile link between two of Silicon Valley's most prized companies and is being seen as the beginning of an era where Apple and Goggle get friendlier and compete against a common rival Microsoft.

 <p>Schmidt, 51, becomes the eighth director of Apple. Other members of the Apple board includes Steve Jobs, Apple's co-founder and CEO, and Al Gore, former vice president of the United States. Prior to Goggle, Schmidt was at Novell Inc. He has also served as chief technology officer at Sun Microsystems. He also sits on Google's board as well as Princeton University's board of trustees.</p>
<p>Eric’s 20 years of experience as an Internet strategist, entrepreneur and technologist will do a lot of good to Apple. Co-founder and CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs said, "We think Schmidt's insights and experience will be very valuable in helping to guide Apple in the years ahead…Eric is obviously doing a terrific job as CEO of Google, and we look forward to his contributions as a member of Apples board of directors”.  </p>
<p>Schmidt sounded eager and optimistic when he said, “Apple is one of the companies in the world that I most admire…..I'm really looking forward to working with Steve and Apple's board to help with all of the amazing things Apple is doing.”</p>
<p>The partnership between Steve and Eric seems to be a winning combination and is most likely to topple Microsoft.</p>
