The ninth planet of the solar system that had so far remained uncharted has now grabbed the attention of NASA which launched an unmanned, piano-sized probe to Pluto. The scientists plan to study the peculiar zone of icy objects that surrounds the coldest planet at the outer edges of the planetary system.

Astronomers in U.S. have noticed for the first time, a dim star which seems to be a companion to the bright North Star. The North star, also known as Polaris, being a super-giant is two thousand times brighter than the sun while it’s companion being a dwarf star is hence not very bright. Seven years, 2.88 billion miles and 8 million. These are some of the figures related to Stardust the little spaceship which has been on a long trip to comet Wild 2. The ship is set to deliver a 101 pound payload containing samples of comet dust. The return date has been announced to be January 15, 2006 and is expected to land at the U.S. Air Force Utah Test and Training Range at 5:12 a.m. EST (1012 GMT), or 3:12 a.m. local time.

The 0 million mission of NASA to explore the distant planet Pluto took another step forward with the moving of the New Horizons Probe to Launch Complex 41, where it will be put atop an Atlas V rocket to begin its nine year journey to the rather unknown planet.
