Taiynn China -- China said Saturday scientists have launched a scientific research satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province.

No details were given on the satellite's mission, Xinhua, the state-run Chinese news agency reported.

Officials said the rocket carrier was a Long March 4B.

The much welcomed Apple Macbook Pro laptops have recently been detected with faulty Nvidia graphic processor. Apple Inc. acknoweldged the defect in its blog posted on Thursday.

I don't exactly feel sorry for Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), but the brewing brouhaha over its latest ad -- and a very good ad, if I do say so -- is so funny that it's sad. AppleInsider reports that Mr. Softy's new "I'm a PC" pitches, which substitute for the goofy and ill-fated Bill Gates-Jerry Seinfeld team-ups, appear to have been created using Macs.

Rolla, Mo. -- Demand for young nuclear engineers is on the rise, with nearly 20,000 veteran engineers poised to retire by 2012.

Missouri University of Science & Technology is one of a number of colleges offering nuclear engineering camps to attract new students, the St. Louis (Mo.) Post-Dispatch reported Monday.

The newspaper said rising fuel prices and concern about global warming are behind a comeback for nuclear power in the United States and other countries.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it has received applications for 18 new nuclear reactors since 2006 and expects another 16 applications by 2010.

William Burchill of the American Nuclear Society said U.S. utilities will need to hire 470 nuclear engineers

Microsoft has tied up with New York comedian Jerry Seinfeld for a $10 million ad campaign to spruce up the sagging sales of its Vista operating system. This is part of a larger $300 million global campaign to boost the prospects of the company.

A rocket carrying the NASA HyBolt Hypersonic Boundary Layer Transition experiment and the SOAREX sub-orbital re-entry experimental package was detonated by NASA engineers 27 seconds into launch on Friday when it veered off course. The space agency took the step to ensure public safety.
