IBM filed a lawsuit against its top level executive, Mark Papermaster who recently accepted a job offer from its rival Apple inc. Papermaster who served IBM for over twenty five years was sued for breaching the non-compete agreement signed with the company in 2006.

In its complaint, IBM stated, "Mr. Papermaster's employment by Apple is a violation of his agreement with IBM against working for a competitor should he leave IBM. We will vigorously pursue this case in court."

The lawsuit has been filed in the District Law Court of Manhatten on Oct. 22. According to the non-compete agreement signed by Papermaster, he agrees to stick by the company for atleast one year, thereby restricting himself to work for or engage with any other business undertaking or IBM's rival companies upto one year. The agreement also forbids him from extending any sort of encouragement to the other IBM employees to switch over company's competitors for atleast two years.
