Should You Short These Stocks?

Thanks to the Chinese government's June announcement that it will not pursue a policy of "exchange rate flexibility," it's now no secret that China's currency stands to strengthen over time. This represents an enormous challenge for Chinese manufacturers, whose cost advantage over competitors -- already under pressure because of rising labor and land costs in China -- has long been subsidized by an artificially weak currency. Neeson raises $400K for Belfast theater

London -- Actor Liam Neeson presided over a dinner that raised nearly $400,000 to help rebuild the Lyric Theatre in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The BBC said Meryl Streep, Aidan Quinn, Ciaran Hinds, Conleth Hill and Brian Kennedy were among the 50 or so guests at the fundraiser, which took place at a posh New York penthouse apartment.

The original Lyric Theatre, built in 1951, is where Neeson began his career and he has long been one of its patrons, the British broadcaster noted.

The outdated facility is being rebuilt on the same site. It is expected to cost $28 million and is scheduled to open this year, the BBC said.

Nielsen out front on Champions Tour

Timonium, Oct. 1 -- Lonnie Nielsen, seeking to cap his best year on the Champions Tour, took a one-shot lead Thursday in the opening round of the Senior Players Championship.

Nielsen has two victories since joining the tour five years ago, one of them coming this year.

He shot a 5-under 65 at the Baltimore Country Club East Course Thursday to jump a shot in front of two of the tour's biggest names -- Tom Watson and Jay Haas.

Watson almost won the British Open this year at age 59. Haas was the leading money winner on the Champions Tour two years ago, was second last season and posted a victory two weeks ago in Hickory, N.C.

Sandy Lyle, a former British Open and Masters champion, was alone in fourth at 67.

Citigroup's Wishful Thinking
