Dover, Del. -- The world's largest brewer, InBev, launched a legal salvo in Delaware Thursday in an attempt to take over U.S. beer giant Anheuser-Busch, court papers said.

InBev is seeking a legal ruling that declares shareholders can remove Anheuser's 13 board members without giving cause, the Financial Times reported.

Anheuser's board has not responded to InBev's $46 billion purchase offer, although sources close to the company said it was preparing to reject the bid.

Anheuser's Chief Executive Officer August Busch IV told InBev, before the offer was made, that Anheuser was "not for sale" the Times reported.

InBev has been seeking shareholder support, claiming it would not change the traditions of the company, the Times reported.

In media reports included in court papers filed Thursday, Anheuser was expected to propose selling non-essential businesses, such as its theme parks, to trim costs, the Times reported.

Moscow -- Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich paid Amy Winehouse $2 million to sing for about an hour at the opening of his girlfriend's Moscow art gallery, sources said.

A few hundred special guests were treated to Winehouse's set Thursday night at Daria Zhukova's Garage contemporary art gallery, RIA Novosti reported.

The gallery, which is located in a former bus shelter, is to open to the public later this year.

Although Winehouse frequently makes headlines for her erratic behavior, reported addiction to drugs and various legal battles, her intimate Moscow concert went off without a hitch, RIA Novosti said.

The BBC quoted her spokesman as thanking Zhukova "for inviting her to such a great night," stating Winehouse "thoroughly enjoyed herself."

New York -- Veteran U.S. newsman Dan Rather says in his amended lawsuit against CBS that his recent past with the company means he can't get a job now elsewhere.

The New York Post reported Thursday that Rather filed papers in Manhattan Supreme Court claiming the network failed to follow through with promises it made to defend him after it made him the scapegoat for a controversial news report.

Rather, 76, said that since he and CBS parted ways, CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox, HBO, the History Channel, A&E and the Discovery and National Geographic channels have all declined to hire him.

"None of these networks were interested in hiring Mr. Rather, each of them ultimately indicating to his agent that he had 'too much baggage,' 'was too hot to handle,' 'there was too much controversy,' or words to that effect," the court papers allege.

Los Angeles -- Hollywood actor John Krasinski said his co-star and director George Clooney was too busy to play one of his trademark pranks on him on the "Leatherheads" set.

That didn't keep Krasinski from worrying that he might fall prey to one of Clooney's practical jokes, however.

"Luckily, George was very busy being a director and an actor and it was sort of one of the bigger productions he has ever done," Krasinski told reporters in Los Angeles recently.

"But I will be dead honest and this sounds incredibly crazy, but it's true," he recalled. "I called my manager one day and I thought: 'Oh my God, this is it. This is George Clooney's biggest prank ever. Getting, like, some kid from TV to believe that he actually is on a set with big movie stars and a big crew and he's friends with Renee (Zellweger,) so he got her in on it.'

Los Angeles -- Hollywood reportedly is planning a remake of Roman Polanski's classic 1968 horror film "Rosemary's Baby," which was based on Ira Levin's best-selling novel.

Paramount is in negotiations with the horror production company Platinum Dunes to reinvent the film, with Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller set to produce, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

The creepy tale is about a young woman whose husband allows her to be impregnated by the devil in exchange for a successful career, the trade newspaper noted.

Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes and Ruth Gordon co-starred in the original film.

New York -- NBC has confirmed its New York-based sketch comedy television show "Saturday Night Live" should be back on the air this month after a three-month absence.

The late-night series was shut down by the Hollywood writers strike Nov. 5, just four episodes into its 33rd season.

Members of the Writers Guild of America Tuesday voted to end the walkout, sending the writers back to work.

Zap2it.com said the first new edition of "SNL" is expected to air Feb. 23. The host and the musical guest have not yet been announced.

London -- Many U.S. nominees for British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards have said they don't plan to attend the upcoming ceremony at the Royal Opera House.

The Times of London said Hollywood stars George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Tommy Lee Jones, Laura Linney and Ellen Page have all sent their regrets, stating they are unavailable for the Feb. 24 gala.

British actress Julie Christie also said she can't attend, while U.S. actors Casey Affleck, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Hal Holbrook haven't given their answers yet.

British actors Daniel Day-Lewis, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, as well as directors Joel Coen and Anton Corbijn, are set to go to the show, however, the Times said.

The romantic period drama "Atonement," starring Knightley and McAvoy, led the field when BAFTA nominations were announced last month.

If there's anything New Year's Eve is known for -- other than funny hats, confetti, and maybe a little too much champagne -- it's the New Year's resolutions that many people dream up (and often break). Just in time for anybody who's got the "diet" resolution, Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) is introducing The Skinny Latte platform.

It's the holidays; make a toast! And while you're drinking responsibly, you might want to consider the investment possibilities of that liquid swirling around in your glass.
