Film argues Vicious didn't kill Spungen

London -- Director Alan G. Parker says his new U.K. film "Who Killed Nancy?" makes a strong argument that punk rocker Sid Vicious didn't stab Nancy Spungen to death.

Spungen, Vicious' 20-year-old girlfriend, was found dead Oct. 12, 1978, at New York's Chelsea Hotel, where she and Vicious had been staying. Vicious, bassist for the Sex Pistols, was arrested, but died of a heroin overdose Feb. 2, 1979, at age 21, while awaiting trial for Spungen's slaying.

Police reportedly closed the case on Spungen's death when Vicious died.

Parker told the BBC Vicious's mother, Anne Beverley, asked him to clear her son's name in 1985 when he was working as a music journalist. He has since written two books about the troubled musician.

"I think this film had to be made from about the day that Sid's mother died in 1996," Parker said, explaining he saw the request as Beverley's "last wish."

New York -- Singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb and TV music coordinator Roey Hershkovitz were married Saturday evening at a New York restaurant, The New York Times reported.

Rabbi Andy Bachman presided over their nuptials at Brasserie 8 1/2.

Loeb, 40, has produced eight albums and Hershkovitz, 30, is music director of the television talk show "Late Night With Conan O'Brien."

Loeb and Hershkovitz met in late 2006 and were smitten while discussing a television pilot Hershkovitz was pitching at a meeting in Los Angeles, the Times said. That led to a dinner date in New York and eventually they began spending time together.

Their relationship survived a six-week breakup and Hershkovitz's proposal to her last November in front of a fireplace at the Maritime Hotel included pink champagne and a boom box playing their song, "All Night Long" by Lionel Ritchie, the Times said.

Cops force Tommy Lee's chopper to land

Los Angeles -- The pilot of a helicopter carrying rocker Tommy Lee was forced to land after he allegedly flew too close to a Los Angeles police chopper, officials said.

"(The pilot) was flying rather erratically and he did get close to one of our helicopters,'' LAPD Officer Karen Smith told E! News. "The tower over the area was concerned about his flying, too."

Smith said the Motley Crue musician and the pilot, whose name wasn't immediately released, were forced to land at the closest airport Sunday.

The pilot was taken to the LAPD's Van Nuys station where he took a breath test and was released without charge, pending the results.

"(Lee) had nothing to do with the situation, so he was just released," Smith told E! News.

Folk singer Martyn dead at age 60

Glasgow, Scotland -- Scottish singer John Martyn, known as much for his folk sound as his hard-drinking image, has died at the age of 60, singer Phil Collins said.

Collins, who had worked alongside Martyn during his musical career, remembered the "May You Never" star as a "great friend," The Scotsman said Friday.

"John's passing is terribly, terribly sad," Collins said. "I had known him since the 1970s and he was a great friend."

After first appearing in the music scene in the 1960s, Martyn created such albums as 1973's "Solid Air" and 1977's "One World."

The Scotsman said to Martyn, his albums were representative of what was taking place in his life at the time.

"Every record I've made -- bad, good, or indifferent -- is autobiographical," he said once. "I can look back when I hear a record and recall exactly what was going on. Some people keep diaries; I make records."
