Virtual Reality

Be it the chatrooms, the networking sites or just simple e-mails, its amazing to see how introverts of real world become miraculously open on the internet. The not-so-loud and the timid turn out to be live wires, when in front of a screen and a keyboard. I ponder upon the reasons why:

Nobody’s really real. In a bid to make an impact on their peers people usually exaggerate or in some case go completely astray while proclaiming their achievements but there’s always a fear of getting caught. It’s so easy to impress on the internet, people can go on bragging about stuff which only exists in their imagination. Pore over some scrapbooks and you’ll realize how both parties are bluffing each other, amazingly each contented with the other.

Low self-esteem, poor confidence that gives jitters to many when they actually face inquisitive cohorts forces them to keep quite while internet gives everybody a chance to portray pluckiness. I’ve come across so many people who would not even greet me at the classes but when you bump into them on the net, they’re suddenly all amicable. Some actually admit that they’re too shy to come up and talk amidst other people.

Internet relations are convenient, just block someone when he gets too bugging and you’re done. On the other hand when you need an outlet for your emotions all it takes is a few clicks and there’s a whole brigade of corresponding chaps to lend their ears or say spaces.

And yes, the blogs. When you know you’re surrounded by dim-wits who’ll need vast elucidation to get a mere hint of your whims, the blogs come to rescue. Pour out all that’s beyond your assemblage and you’re light. It does help, I say because I do it. When I don’t trust people enough with my cloak-and-dagger, I blog it. Readership is always invited because it’s too inhuman even for loners like me completely isolate themselves. We need to be heard, or read. Whatever it is.

So, it’s either the completely forged or the absolutely genuine side of yourself, which you believe might not be acceptable to people but the internet accepts it, because of the diversities that it makes accessible.
