Exposing all the ten products on Wednesday, Scotts Valley, California based Seagate Technology country manager for India and SAARC-Rajesh Khurana said that the products will enable availability of digital, audio, video and data across a host of devices and applications.
He said that the improved storage capacities, quicker processing, and nearly ubiquitous broadband and wireless connectivity, have concreted to create an environment wherein users can trust on a wide range of devices to deliver anywhere, anytime, access to their music, movies, photos, data, and other digital content.
“According to IDC report, the annual shipment for consumer storage is 12.4 crore in 2006. It will increase to 25.5 crore by 2009. Our extensive technology portfolio leveraged across multiple product platforms, combined with our recent acquisition of Maxtor, has strengthened our ability to deliver products to consumers,” Khurana said in a statement.
Stressing on the digital content creation and distribution as increasingly driving industry growth across all market segments, Khurana said, “The on-demand phenomenon crosses all market segments, driving an extraordinary increase and diversification in the need for solutions that help people create, store, share and protect digital content everywhere.”
The array of newly launched products includes 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives with up to 750 GB capacity for consumer electronics, notebook and desktop PC and enterprise applications.
The oldest independent hard disk maker, still in operation has also launched the 8.0GB pocket drive and notebook drive which combines rotating disc and flash memory; The 8.0GB pocket drive worth around $ 149 is the latest version of Seagate's round storage drive with wrap-around USB cable. Mirra personal server-making it the first device to sync, share and secure data between Macs and PCs; Barracuda ES for high capacity servers and Momentus 5400.2 FDE for full disc encryption up to 160 GB are other products.
The novel version of Mirra Sync allows users to remotely access digital content across the Internet, and provides automatic synchronization and back-up of Windows and Macintosh files. The device sports a 320GB capacity, and will ship for a price of nearly $ 499. While, the 500GB capacity version will be priced at $ 599. Both versions are possibly to ship by the end of June 2006.
