Samsung India aiming a 200% growth in LCD monitor sales

Samsung India is aspiring for a 200% growth in its LCD monitor sales this year and also aiming to enhance the production capacity at its manufacturing facility at Noida, near Delhi to fulfill the scaled up demand.

The company has a network of 19 Branch Offices located all over the country. The Samsung manufacturing complex housing manufacturing facilities for Colour Televisions, Colour Monitors, Refrigerators and Washing Machines is located at Noida, (UP).

"The manufacturing capacity for LCD monitors is being doubled from 2.5 lakh units per annum last year to around 5 lakh units per annum this year," Company’s vice president (IT) Sanjay Sharma, said.

Headquartered in New Delhi, Samsung India expects LCD monitors to contribute 20% by volume and 35% value to their total monitor sales this year.

Samsung ‘Made in India’ products like Colour Televisions, Colour Monitors and Refrigerators are being exported to Middle East, CIS and SAARC countries from its Noida manufacturing complex. At the same time, The Company strengthened its Colour monitor lineup by launching its 19-inch wide format LCD monitor in the domestic market.

The ultra wide screen of the monitor 940bw allows the user to watch two whole A4 size pages, side by side, making it an "ideal monitor" for stock market brokers, BPOs, convergence applications and graphic designers, another senior company official said.

"The 940 bw is equipped with built in high bandwidth digital content protection so copyrighted contents are protected from being illegally copied and the state-of-the-art connection also guarantees that the monitor will be compatible with all new devices in future", Ravinder Zutshi, deputy managing director, Samsung India, said adding that estimated market price for the 940bw is Rs 18,000.

"The company plans to introduce wide format (16:10 aspect ratio) LCD monitors in 20-inch and 21-inch screen sizes in the 3rd quarter of this year," Zutshi said.

Samsung India also launched its 'eye fresh technology' (EFT) monitors for the Indian market and which will be available in 15 inch and 17 inch screen sizes.

Samsung India, which currently employs over 1600 employees, with around 18% of its employees working in Research & Development, has a range of 16 LCD monitors in the screen sizes between 15 inch to 46 inch, with the estimated market price being Rs 10,500 to Rs 3.15 lakh.
