NDTV, Hind Zinc, KS Oils surge higher while CG, Tech stocks loose

Mumbai -- At 10:33 am (IST), NDTV has surged higher by 0.6% to Rs. 151. The company announced their Q1 result with profit to Rs. 27mn from Rs. 2.3mn year earlier, revenue at Rs. 640mn (up 54%). The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 155 and a low of Rs. 150 and has recorded volumes of over 2 lakh shares on NSE.
At 10:41 am (IST), Hindustan Zinc has gained by 1.2% to Rs. 581. The company announced their Q1 result with profit at Rs. 8.74bn (up 490%), net income at Rs. 16.57bn (up 204%). The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 596 and a low of Rs. 579 and has recorded volumes of over 3 lakh shares on NSE.
At 11:07 am (IST), KS Oils has edged higher by 0.1% to Rs. 195. The company registered a total profit of Rs. 85.1mn for the quarter, a 142% increase from Rs. 35.1mn for the same period of the previous financial year. The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 205 and a low of Rs. 194 and has recorded volumes of over 43 thousand shares on NSE.
At 10:54 am (IST), Tata Chemicals has lost by 0.6% to Rs. 203. The company plans to get into allied activities such as agriculture, nano science and biotechnology, at an investment of Rs. 4bn, company's Chairman Ratan Tata, said.. The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 209 and a low of Rs. 202.
At 11:01 am (IST), Crompton Greaves has shed by 0.1% to Rs. 900. The company posted their Q1 results with profit at Rs. 363.7mn (up 16%), sales at Rs. 8.02bn (up 40.7%). The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 914 and a low of Rs. 895.
Wipro and Satyam Computers are the major losers among the Tech stocks.
In spite of attractive Q1 results Tech stocks are falling sharply. Satyam Computers has lost by 2.3% to Rs. 677, Polaris is down by 1.5% to Rs. 87.50, I-Flex slips by 1.3% to Rs. 1235 and Infosys shed by 0.1% to Rs. 1627.
At 11:29 am (IST), Wipro has plunged over 5% to Rs. 460. The company announced their results of total profit of Rs. 6.19bn for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 (Q1 FY07) as compared to Rs. 4.05bn for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 (Q1 FY06). The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 498 and a low of Rs. 458 and has recorded volumes of over 15 lakh shares on NSE.
Rallis India has declared its first quarter results. The company registered total loss of Rs. 3.84 crore (Rs. 38.4 mn) against Rs. 2.73 crore (Rs. 27.3 mn). Its sales are up at Rs. 129.1 crore (Rs. 1.29 bn) from Rs. 122.2 crore (Rs. 1.22 bn). Its OPM is at 6.84% against 8.57%. Its PAT is at Rs. 3.15 crore (Rs. 31.5 mn) versus Rs. 3.44 crore (Rs. 34.4 mn).
The company registered awesome loss of Rs. 6.99 crore (Rs. 69.9 mn)on account of forex losses.
At 11:42 am (IST), TCS has lost by 2.1% to Rs. 1796. The company on Tuesday posted their Q1 result with profit at Rs. 8.63bn (up 33.4%), sales at Rs. 41.44bn (up 29%) and to pay Rs. 3 a share as dividend. The scrip has touched a high of Rs. 1895 and a low of Rs. 1790 and has recorded volumes of over 2 lakh shares on NSE.
