MNC s staying remote from Indian Long distance telephony

New Delhi:The lowering down the entry fees for the NLD and ILD players,the lucrative subsidies and all the magic have failed to get the Indian government the global firms landing up in the country's long distance telephony scenario.Following the centre's initiatives the ILD segment has till now got applications from five new firms including Siffy Communications,Dishnet Wireless,Shippingstop.com,Spice Communications,I21 entrerprises.The NLD sector has been approached by HCL infonet,Hughes Escorts Communication limited,HutchisonEssar,Tulip IT services.

It can be well observed that the looming firms either belong to the category of infrastructure providers,Virtual Private Network service providers or mobile and fixed access contributor.With the country already facing billion investment abyss in the telecom segment the hesitation by the MNCs has raised the worries of the PMO nad Commerce ministry.

The analysts are crediting the centre' policies of restraining the remote access of networks as a major factor refraining the interest of the MNCs.The government however is in no mood to take back such restrictions which are must for nation's safekeeping.
