His work includes a whole host of feelings to devise the point at which people are likely to be the happiest.
The most interesting factor taken into account is that with England on a World Cup roll, despite injuries, optimism nationally is high.
The result of this research is commissioned by Wall's Ice Cream proves Friday June 23 to be officially the happiest day of the year.
It looked at everything from increased outdoor activity, rising energy levels, picnics and beach trips with loved ones.
Memories of childhood ice-creams bought from the traditional ice-cream van have also been looked upon.
The formula given by Arnall encapsulates all of the elements taken into account to reach the conclusion.
The equation is broken down into six variables: (O) being outdoors and outdoor activity, (N) nature, (S) social interaction, (Cpm) childhood summers (positive memories) (T) temperature (He) Holidays and looking forward to time off.
The formula brings together everything from picnics and barbecues, beach visits and sport, flowering gardens, time spent with friends and expectations of holidays, all ushered in by longer days and warmer weather.
Friday June 23 was finally pinpointed because it also looks upon the 'thank goodness it's Friday' feeling at the start of a summer weekend.
According to Cliff Arnall, "Happiness is associated with many things in life and can be triggered by a variety of events.
"Whether it's a sunny day, a childhood memory, or something as effortless as eating a delicious ice-cream - I wanted my formula to prove the key to happiness can really be that simple."
As commented by a spokesman for Wall, "The formula follows research recently revealed by Wall's Ice Cream showing ice-cream actually makes you happy because it lights up the brain's pleasure zones."
It has also been reported that the research was commissioned to celebrate the launch of a Wall's photo competition asking people to capture moments of happiness associated with the great British summer.
"What's more, the top prize is a brand new Mini Cooper with an in-car freezer so you can enjoy more moments of ice-cream happiness on the road!" said the spokesman.
Di Houldsworth, marketing manager at Wall's Ice Cream, said: "The Happiest Day of the Year is a great opportunity to get out there and capture your feel-good summer memories and with our photo competition, you could win a brand new Mini Cooper for your efforts.”
"Everyone knows that eating an ice-cream has the ability to put a smile on your face, sparking the taste and feeling of summer so we can't wait to celebrate on June 23 at Wall's."
