According to a press release put out by the Bluetooth SIG yesterday, it appears that the people behind Bluetooth are intent on merging their technology with the still-evolving high-speed wireless technology known as Ultra-Wideband (UWB). There has been much talk of UWB being an eventual "Bluetooth Killer" when its products finally reach the market in a couple of years. This could very well prevent that from happening. |

According to Stephen Wood, UWB Technology Strategist for Intel: "The Bluetooth SIG’s intention to employ UWB in their next generation products is a very positive step in allowing consumers to connect seamlessly between PCs, phones and consumer electronics equipment. This is an extremely positive move." Merging UWB technology with Bluetooth should allow Bluetooth users to get what they want: more speed, while allowing UWB devices to potentially get to market much faster, and with far less market resistance. | ||
