Avaya Inc. has unveiled its new Avaya one-X Deskphone Edition, the next generation of Internet protocol (IP) phone that delivers simplicity and faster access to a vast array of advanced applications, transforming the way people think about, use and hear voice communications.

Basking Ridge, New Jersey based telecommunication company's these advanced business phones are more functional and flexible, and as easy to navigate as a cell phone, providing users access to the full range of IP applications with greater simplicity, consistency and control across Avaya's devices and interfaces. It provides a better way for enterprise users to communicate, get information and be more productive in their work.
In redesigning and manufacturing its recent IP phones for businesses, Avaya-which specialises in VoIP, Contact Center and mobile voice and data technology, set out to create a phone designed by users and for users.
In a survey conducted by Avaya, it is revealed that 85 % of people who used the phone said it could have a positive impact on productivity and save costs by reducing mistakes and dropped calls. While 90% responded the phones could save time through easy access to mobility features-reducing phone tag. 96 % respondents said time savings could result due to the phone's ability to quickly find contact information.
Simplified access to both common and advanced capabilities are delivered through an intuitive context-sensitive screen that presents different information according to a users status i.e. if they are making a phone call, retrieving messages or checking contacts. This gives swift and smooth access to the telephony features of Avaya Communication Manager-the company's IP telephony software, and Call Logs-which allows quick dialing of missed or recently dialed calls.
With enhanced capabilities, like multi-party conferencing and mobility options, change what is imaginable with a desktop phone. On a multi-party conference, for instance, the consumer can now watch all of their teleconference participants on the screen, and scroll through them to add, drop or mute individual people. Mobility applications allows a user bridge their IP phone with their cell phone with one touch, providing constant connectivity and one- number access for those on the go.
With its further simplified features, the phone also provides users with step-by-step directions for accessing many features including guides for conferencing, transferring, and handling multiple calls simultaneously. Including, helping users to make phone operation easier, reducing errors and dropped calls.
Avaya, which provided the communication networks for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2003 and also is the official Converged Communication Provider for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, launched its "The one-X family" in March, which includes the Avaya one-X Mobile Edition, Quick Edition and Desktop Edition.
Avaya one-X Deskphone Edition is the latest addition to the Avaya one-X family of products. The phones have an international design to serve worldwide users, and screen prompts will be available in 14 different languages.
