Rihanna’s family speaks on Chris Brown arrest

Los Angeles, February 20: After days of staying away from the media, pop star Rihanna’s family has finally come forward to speak on her relationship with Chris Brown.

Chris Brown was arrested last week after he caused physical injury to Rihanna following an argument that the couple had just before they were to perform in the Grammy awards.

In a statement to people.com, one of Rihanna’s family members said that Brown “flew so far under everyone’s radar that we just didn’t think he was that [abusive] type.” The relative further added that the news is almost shocking considering the fact that “he was always looking after her needs making sure she was happy.”

Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty believes that his celebrity daughter should leave the troubled relationship behind and move ahead in life. None of her family members is in favor of her going back to Chris Brown.

Kimora Lee Simmons also talked about this incident when she showcased her collection Baby Phat during the New York Fashion Week. She told the Associated Press that she did see the couple the previous night before the news of their scuffle broke out.

Simmons said, “I saw them that night ... and I think it’s a very unfortunate situation.”

She continued, “And I wish them both all the best and I send them my love and I’m very personally attached to both of them. And sometimes I think young lovers go through things and I really don’t know what happened, so I wish everybody the best.”

Ray J, who was also present at the show with Simmons, said that he and Brown are close friends. He sent his good wishes to the couple.

He told the Associated Press, “I’ve got a chance to hang out with them a couple of times, and, you know, they’re cool people. Keep your head up.”

He added, “You know things like this happen in life. And in life, sometimes these are the tests and obstacles that you got to overcome.”
