Restricting teen sex is 'not realistic', says Bristol Palin

New York, February 17: Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol have conflicting views on teen sex. While the Alaska Gov. famously preaches abstinence, her 18-year-old daughter thinks it is 'not realistic at all'. Abstinence, she says, is the best policy, but then we need to get practical again. The idea of curbing teen sex is not rational because it's not the 19th Century any more. Shortly after the announcement of Sarah Palin being selected as the running mate of Sen. John McCain, Bristol Palin’s pregnancy reports surfaced, giving a shudder to the last presidential campaign. Despite all her trepidations about teen pregnancy, Sarah Palin and the rest of her family publicly announced that they are proud of Bristol for deciding to have the baby. Late December, the younger Palin gave birth to the child of an ill-tempered failed hockey player, who has yet to finish high school. In her recent interview, she revealed why, she now feels, it was not very wise to get pregnant at 17. "Everyone should wait 10 years," the young Palin said. "I hope people learn from my story.” When you’re that young, it isn't smart to get knocked up. "It's so much easier if you're married, have a house and career. It's not a situation you want to strive for," she said. Bristol Palin said that she chose to have the baby; it was not because of her mother's anti-abortion views. "It was my choice to have the baby," she said. "It doesn't matter what my mom's views are on it. It was my decision." Bristol admitted that she was very nervous while confessing about the pregnancy and her desire to go ahead with it, in front of her mother. It was "harder than labor," she said.
