Los Angeles, February 14: Following reports of an alleged physical attack on girlfriend Rihanna and a consequential arrest, R & B singer Chris Brown is regretful, says his father.
Clinton Brown, who lives in Toppahannock, Virginia, told People magazine that his son his home and repents the incidence. "He's reflecting on this situation," said the senior Brown. "He's very remorseful. He's very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that (Rihanna's) okay.”
The incident was unfortunate, he said, adding, “Hopefully, he will get past it. We all have our shortcomings. We all trip."
Although there is no official statement confirming that Rihanna was the victim of Brown's attack ahead of the Grammy Awards, unnamed sources and many media reports suggests that a tiff between the two stars led Chris Brown to jostle his 20-year-old girlfriend.
Shortly after the incident, the 19-year-old turned himself in to police on early Sunday morning. Police booked the singer on suspicion of making criminal threats against a woman.
Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the L.A. District Attorney's Office said that the singer will not be charged by prosecutors before next week.
According to Clinton Brown there are “two sides to every story.”
“If you are on his side, you are on his side,” he says. “Just because someone trips, if you are truly a fan, you are not going to demonize him instantaneously.”
Describing his son as "lovable young man" and "a good person," Clinton Brown said that he hopes the recent incident will turn out to be a positive lesson for Chris, in the long run.
"As a father, I couldn't be more proud," said Brown, who had flown to Los Angeles to be with his son at the Grammys, but had to skip the show. "He's the light of my life."
