Washington, February 11:Michelle Obama, the trendy better-half of President Barack Obama, adorns the cover of the March edition of famous fashion magazine ‘Vogue’.

She’s only the second First Lady of America to have the fashion honor. Hillary Clinton had earlier made it to the coveted cover in December 1998.

Famous photographer Annie Leibowitz had clicked Mrs. Obama in a magenta dress seated on a sofa in the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington, DC. The dress was chosen by the first lady herself. She was interviewed by Andre Leon Talley.

The magenta silk number is again credited to Jason Wu, the man who had also designed the white floor-length gown that Mrs. Obama wore to the inaugural ball.

After coming in the limelight, Michelle Obama’s wardrobe choice has been frequently lauded and following her husband’s historic victory to the powerful throne, her dresses are being noted and written about, all the more.

The lady is aware that what she wears is scrutinized to every thread. Instead of pretending to be oh-so-busy and wearing anything that is handed by a stylist, Michelle Obama admits she does give a thought in selecting her clothes.

"I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it. But I also have to be practical," she tells Vogue magazine.

Candidly, she carries on, "I love clothes...First and foremost, I wear what I love. That's what women have to focus on: what makes them feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion."

In the past, Mrs. Obama has featured on the covers of many magazines including ‘Ebony’ and ‘Essence’ among others but after becoming the First Lady, it is the first time she’s embellished the cover.

The accompanying interview in Vogue, has Mrs. Obama talking about her personal life, her upbringing and her role in the First Family. "We learned in our household that there was nothing you couldn't talk about and that you found humor in even the toughest of times. I want to bring that spirit of warmth, openness, and stability to my task," she said in the interview.

Also, she said, she wants to be involved with her kids and be aware of the matters in their school.
