Los Angeles, February 2:The north London home of troubled British pop star, Amy Winehouse has been burgled while she was on holidays in the Caribbean, police have confirmed.
Burglars broke into Winehouse’s London home late last week. At least five guitars, recording equipment and a flat screen TV worth £15,000 were stolen from the singer’s Camden home.
Winehouse, who has been away from home since before New Year's Eve, is currently holidaying in St. Lucia.
The police were called to Winehouse’s house around 4 a.m. following reports of two men forcing their way into the home, the media reports say.
According to People magazine, the door to the house was shattered and burglars escaped with singer’s personal possessions, including five vintage guitars and recording equipment.
A spokesperson for Winehouse says the 'Rehab' hitmaker is devastated after learning that her home was burgled.
The singer’s rep Chris Goodman said: "Amy is upset, of course. But everything can be replaced."
"From her point of view, her favourite guitar is with her in St. Lucia. It was a special present, given her by [record label] Universal for winning the Grammy awards last year."
British tabloid, The Sun also quoted a source as saying that "Amy is devastated. Some of the guitars are irreplaceable due to their sentimental value."
"The flat is in a real state. It had been cleaned up in preparation for her return. Now she will have to start from scratch to replace what has been stolen," the source added.
It is believed that two men were involved in the burglary however no arrests have been made so far.
BBC 6Music quoted a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police as saying that a number of missing items have been recovered and that “the premises were secured and are now being forensically examined. The property was unoccupied.”
"We are investigating a burglary at an address in Camden at around 4 am on Thursday. Inquiries are continuing," said the Metropolitan Police spokesman.
The five-time Grammy winner, Amy Winehouse was due to return home this weekend and begin work on her third album. Her last album was Back to Black, released in 2006.
