Los Angeles, January 27: Amy Winehouse is seemingly determined to save her marriage, that is why she has planned to visit her husband in prison and to return to the UK.
The troubled British pop singer has reportedly applied to visit her incarcerated hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil, in a bid to stop him from filing for divorce. She’s even decided to return to the UK from her holiday in Caribbean island of St Lucia in an attempt to save her marriage.
Blake, who headed back to a British jail last month after failing to pass a court-ordered drug test, reportedly has instructed his lawyer to start divorce proceedings after seeing pictures of the ‘Rehab’ singer with another man.
The 26-year-old former music video assistant, Blake, is currently behind bars in Edmunds Hill Prison for attacking a pub landlord in 2006 and then trying to cover it up.
Reports were rampant on the Internet last week that Blake has filed for divorce earlier this month (Jan, 2009) in a bid to bring the couple's 20-month tumultuous marriage to an end. He is even planning to ask for half of the singer’s estimated £10 million fortune in a divorce settlement.
The British tabloid The Sun quoted a friend of her as saying: "Since he began divorce proceedings Amy has decided she wants to try and work things out. She has applied to visit him in jail in Britain and if he accepts she will fly back. We will see what his priority is. Amy or her money."
While holidaying in St. Lucia, Amy was romantically involved with 21-year-old rugby player Josh Bowman and even a fitness instructor, Andrew.
But, only last week, Amy told a UK newspaper that she still loves Blake and does not want to end their marriage.
"Josh was lovely. But it was a holiday thing. I still love my Blake. While he's locked away, I'm still going to have a good time. He can't do anything about it," she told the paper at the time.
During her five week holiday trip, Amy, who has always been an interesting fodder for British tabloids for her alleged alcohol-induced behavior, was photographed wandering the streets of London, wearing only a bra and jeans, and then again was snapped frolicking topless at the Caribbean beach.
The five-time Grammy winner Amy, best known for a string of R&B hits including "Rehab", married Blake in Miami in May 2007.
