George Clooney goes back to “ER”

Los Angeles, January 22: Despite denying last March that he will be returning to NBC’s medical drama “ER,” George Clooney is coming back on the series that made him famous for his role as Dr. Doug Ross.

Clooney is the most famous alumnus of the series “ER,” which started in Sept. 19, 1994. He has been on the show since it premiered and was last seen on it when he made a cameo appearance in 2000 with Dr. Ross’ ex-girlfriend Julian Marguilies.

After almost nine years, Clooney is ready to reprise his role as Dr. Ross on the show just in time for the series’ 15th and last season.

The details of Clooney’s appearance on the show remain top secret. In fact, John Wells, the co-creator and director of “ER”, has given strict orders to maintain a closed set during shooting.

Only a selected number of cast and crew members will be permitted to go for a limited time on the set and cell phones are also prohibited while Clooney is there.

The “ER” staff has indeed gone to great lengths in order to have the Oscar-winning actor on the show. They have even taken the time to shoot the scenes where Dr. Ross appears out of sequence in order to accommodate Clooney’s schedule.

One scene will show Clooney in a new hospital in Seattle where his character, Dr. Ross, is currently practicing his profession. He will also be seen together with his former workmates at the County General Hospital in Chicago.

Aside from Clooney, other “ER” alumni who will be back on the show are Noah Wiley, Anthony Edwards and Alex Kingston who play John Carter, Dr. Mark Greene and Dr. Elizabeth Corday, respectively.

“ER” will officially end its last season on April 2 instead of the previously scheduled March 12 because of three additional episodes announced by NBC. A one-hour retrospective will be shown before the final episode is aired.

“ER” had a remarkable run, being the longest medical drama to air on television. The series and its actors have won numerous awards and nominations including an Emmy award for Outstanding Drama Series in 1996.
