San Bruno, California, January 17: Good news for console gamers who are also fond of YouTube videos! Google has announced the launch of YouTube videos on television directly with Wii and PlayStation 3 game consoles that are connected to the internet.
Now, viewers can experience the videos using their Wii remote and Playstation 3 controller. The YouTube TV channel is available at youtube.com/TV and also by accessing the Wii’s Opera browser or the PS3’s built-in browser.
YouTube has also included auto play option so the viewers can watch related videos in sequence and without any interface, which is generally required on a computer.
Viewers can also browse and search through videos using on-screen menus. Videos will be displayed on TV screen using standard and full screen mode.
YouTube stated that, "the TV Web site offers a dynamic, lean-back, 10-foot television viewing experience through a streamlined interface that enables you to discover, watch, and share YouTube videos on any TV screen with just a few quick clicks of your remote control.
“With enlarged text and simplified navigation, it makes watching YouTube on your TV as easy and intuitive as possible."
Google’s aim is to reach beyond computer through their products. Initially, YouTube videos were available on Sony Bravia TVs, Panasonic Viera TVs, the Apple TV device and TiVo's digital video recorder with 12 languages in 22 countries.
The company said their main aim is “YouTube on any screen, any time."
But how many people are enjoying You Tube on TV is not clear yet as YouTube spokesperson didn’t respond to the request for the statistical information.
Microsoft owned Xbox 360 console is absent from the console games list but there is a strong possibility that it will get added later.
