Death of Travolta's son raises questions

New York, United States, January 7: The death certificate of Jett, the 16-year-old son of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston, reveals seizure as the cause of death but there are still some questions left unanswered.

Keith McSweeney of Restview Memorial Mortuary and Crematorium said, "The cause of death was seizure disorder." But the parents have refused to even consider this cause as a possibility.

Jett Travolta died Friday at the family vacation home in Grand Bahama. Jett’s nanny discovered the boy’s body in the bathroom. John Travolta told that his son was diagnosed at the age of two with a rare disease called Kawasaki syndrome that leads to heart disease and related problems.

Medical specialists who did not treat the boy told on Tuesday that while Kawasaki syndrome is poorly understood, it's extremely unlikely the disease had anything to do with the teen's death. According to his uncle, Jet was a child with autism while Kelly Preston blamed the household cleaner and fertilizers for the disease.

The couple is Scientologist. According to United States media reports, John Travolta would not treat his son for autism. Instead, he followed Scientology's detoxification program which included vitamins, sauna visits and healthy eating.

Davis, the Scientology spokesman, said, “Scientology is a religion; we deal with the spirit, and mental and spiritual factors that affect someone's happiness and well-being." Davis acknowledged the detoxification program, but said its benefits are spiritual.

In interviews, both parents denied their son had autism. President Kathy Eiss of Autism Society of Western New York said, "I really don't know whether Jett's condition was autism or not, but I think it's something that you shouldn't run away from. I think it's something that you should embrace."

Dr. Peter Carlen, a neurologist at Toronto Western Hospital, said “current medical literature does not say that children who suffer from the syndrome also suffer seizures.”

Carlen said that an increased rate of epilepsy is found in autistic patients. He further said, "Most people with epilepsy require medication; not being on enough medication, or not being on medication, is one of the risk factors for sudden unexplained death from epilepsy."

That's it now!

Stop the rumor-mongering! It's really enough now! Let the Travolta's grieve and move on. God bless the few journalists who are actually capable to do SOME research instead of forwarding rumors, like you do. From those we learned that Jett was on anti-seizure medication (obviously with parental consent, at the age of 16!) and that he had seizures about once a week even then. And he died from one of them. Like thousands of people every year. It's tragic and it's sad. Let the Travoltas alone!
