California, United States, December 16: Apple has released for download an update to its Leopard operating system that includes 36 new solutions for Mac. Besides, it has also brought out the improvised and faster MobileMe, the online Mac service.
In addition to general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of Mac, Leopard update provides fixes for series of Mac issues, like the company's online synchronization, storage and web application service.
Describing the update, Apple said, “Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on a Mac automatically sync within a minute of the change being made on the computer, another device, or the web at me.com.”
Apple has also finally answered the complaints of displeased MobileMe subscribers, who had been struggling with its slow data sync. It has now increased the MobileMe sync speed, lack of which had compelled it to increase the users’ subscription by 30 days in July. That time, synchronization from Macs to MobileMe used to take 15 minutes in Leopard and an hour in Tiger that is Mac OS X 10.4.
Now with the improvised MobileMe service, users can synchronize data every minute. Users can enjoy faster syncing for contacts, calendars, and bookmark lists.
However, subscribers running Windows XP or Vista may still face slower sync. “Windows XP and Vista (with MobileMe Control Panel 1.2): Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks changes sync every 15 minutes" when the setting is on "Automatically” reads the Apple website.
The leopard update ensures better performance across various applications, convenience and security for its existing users.
Ichat users would get rid of the encryption alert that appears on the chat window through one of the fixes. Another ichat fix would correct the issue that automatically logs out the invisible users. Gamers would see better images and graphics in a number of games and mail users could filter the spam better than before.
However, if your Mac has system software other than Leopard, you need to be cautious while downloading as you “may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications installed, or if you have modified the operating system through other means,” says the website.
The update is available free for download on the Apple’s website.
