Degeneres gives Mariah Carey a booze pregnancy test

Rumors were rampant on the Internet in recent weeks that Mariah Carey is pregnant with her new husband Nick Cannon’s baby. But, the Grammy winning singer has abruptly shot down all those tales, saying she’s not pregnant with her first child.

On Wednesday's episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Carey, 39, who recently married Nick Cannon, 28, denied that they are expecting a little bundle of joy.

In response to the Emmy-winning talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres’ question if she is pregnant, Carey only said: “No, that’s OK [to ask].”

But, dissatisfied with the answer Ellen opted to put Carey on booze pregnancy test. She offered her a glass of champagne for toast, saying, “You don’t have to answer that. Let’s just toast with champagne.”

But, Carey declined to sip saying “It’s just fattening,” adding, "This is peer pressure!"

“I can’t believe you did this to me, Ellen,” Carey said to Ellen.

“What? Let’s toast to you not being pregnant,” Ellen insisted.

When Ellen persisted, the two clinked glasses but Carey put the glass to her lips and only pretended to sip her champagne, prompting Ellen to exclaim: "You're pregnant!"

But Carey still resisted: “I didn’t say that. No, no, no. We will let you know when we’re going to have a family.”

Carey Gave Ellen a slew of excuses for refusing to drink the bubbly saying, "It's too early for me. I only drink after 3 p.m."

Born on 27 March 1970, Carey rose to superstardom on the strength of her remarkable vocal range. In the early '90s, she excelled to become one of the top female vocalists of the decade.

Her hit albums included Mariah Carey (1990), Music Box (1993) and Butterfly (1997). Early this year, she released her single "Touch My Body", her 18th number one single, off her latest album "E=MC2" that also debuted on record charts as the best-selling album in mid-April. She was named the best-selling female pop artist of the millennium at the 2000 World Music Awards.

In April, Carey swapped vows with Nick Cannon, who is 11 years his wife’s junior. This is Carey's second marriage after she married Columbia record mogul Tommy Mottola in 1993. The pair divorced in 1998. It is Cannon's first marriage. However, he had previously dated Grammy nominated singer and actress Christina Milian.
