Washington, United States, October 30: United States Senator Barack Obama, also one of the strongest presidential nominees of the Democratic Party for the coming 2008 United States presidential election, will appear in the an unusual political infomercial which will be aired in between the prime time.

Obama is the first African American who has ever been nominated by an important political party (Democratic Party) for the post of the president.

Throughout his campaign Obama has stressed on few sensitive issues like bringing an end to the Iraq war, augmenting energy independence and to make available universal health care for all.

In January 2008, Obama campaign accumulated $36.8 million, setting a record of highest amount of fund raised by a presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.

On Wednesday, in a 30-minute televised advertisement Obama will be seen in the infomercial interrupting the prime time television.

As a part of Obama campaign, the air time on five most important networks, including NBC, CBS and Fox, have been bought by the campaign to air the ad. Approximately, $1 million have been spent on purchasing the air time on each network.

As per schedule, Obama’s infomercial will be aired on BET and Univision as well and will start at 8 p.m.

The video of Obama’s ad contains a montage that features the common problems faced by Americans in their day to day lives. In the video, average Americans highlight the problems which they commonly face, with Obama providing a sigh of relief by giving suggestions how he can solve these problems.

The ad also has a live cut-in to Obama. At the time of this live cut-in, Obama will be in Florida attending a rally.

This kind of an incident of buying a prime time television slot was first reported in the 1992 election. At that time Ross Perot had bought the slot in which an ad was shown containing charts and graphs in a series of related ads viewed by about 11.6 million audience.

Obama campaign could not strike a deal with only one major network, that is ABC, to air the ad. So the ad will not be aired on News10 because the channel is an ABC affiliate.
