The American multinational corporation, the software giant, Apple Inc. best known for its iPhone is enjoying high sales right from the day its online software clearinghouse- the App Store came into being.

Chief Executive Steve Jobs confirmed the news and told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that at least 60 million programs have been downloaded by the iPhone users since the opening of the online store.

With the sales of approximately $30 million over a month, about $1 million applications were sold per day.

Jobs said the sales are picking momentum and the online store is functioning successfully. "This thing's going to crest a half a billion, soon," Jobs said in the interview.

Apple has 200 retail stores in seven countries and an online store, the App Store where hardware and software products are sold. Hardware (like iPhone, MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iMac, Mac Mini, iBook), Apple Software (like Mac OS X, iLife and iWork application bundles, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Shake), Third Party Software (for design software, productivity software, games, utilities) and Select Third Party Accessories are sold through the App Store.

If the sales graph of the App Store remains constant, on the whole Apple would earn at least $360 million annually. Jobs told the journal that this dealing may be roughly around "$1 billion marketplace at some point in time."

The revenue is shared between Apple and the programs' creators. 30 percent of the profits fall in the share of Apple and 70 percent of the profits fall in the share of the programs' creators.

Jobs strongly held that applications will do the trick and will certainly boost the sales of the iPhones and wireless-enabled iPod touch devices.
The availability of the wide variety of the online applications will certainly increase the appeal factor of the product.

An eye is kept on the Apple Web site, primarily, to update the site and also to keep the site free of the detrimental softwares, Jobs said.

Jobs informed that Apple certainly needs more potential to combat the circulation of objectionable programs via App Store to millions of its users.

However, Apple could not be approached at once for elucidation on further details.
