As per the new case documents, Federal agents are hoping that the two computers which they have secured from a public library of Frederick, Maryland would bring forth some significant indications about the prime suspect in anthrax case, Bruce Ivins.
Bruce Ivins was noticed getting into a library through the two computers, just 48 hours before taking an overdose of pills, on July 24 evening. Therefore agents requested for the authorities to search the computers almost a week ago.
The search into the electronic database may expose internet activity, and stored writings that provide information about the plan to kill witnesses or names of intended victims, suicide letters.
FBI agent Marlo Arredondo revealed in an affidavit that Ivins searched a web address which had content associated with anthrax investigation and examining e-mail accounts.
Though the Justice Department confirmed no further investigation was required in the anthrax case as it has been solved but on contrary, the officials said that there are still few loose ends which need to be solved and investigated into, before ending the probe.
FBI Director Robert Mueller, during his visit to Vermont discussed about a new counter-terrorism effort and said, "I am unapologetic. I do not apologize for any aspect of the investigation that was undertaken over the years. And I think it is erroneous to say there were mistakes."
In a press conference, regarding the lawsuit filed by famous scientist Steven Hatfill that was settled over $5.8 million by the Justice Department, Mueller held that the main reason for settlement of this lawsuit was attributable to the leaks that occurred during the course of the investigation.
Mueller also said that the lawsuit in no way was an indication of faulty investigation by FBI rather the unfortunate leaks were responsible for the incident.
Sen. Patrick Leahy (intended recipient of one of the anthrax-laced letters) told reporters that he is interested in knowing what motivated the suspect do all that he did and is waiting for further findings to come out.
