Hurricane Season Of The Atlantic Starts With Arthur

Tropical storm Arthur became the first hurricane of the season to hit the Latin American coast. The storm just touched the Yucatan peninsula in the small nation Belize. According to weather agencies the point of origination of the storm was 125 km northwest of Belize City and was moving northwest at the rate of 11km/hour.

With the hurricane season around the corner Latin American peninsula received its first guest from the Atlantic Ocean with tropical storm Arthur which hit the small peninsular nation Belize. Initially moving strongly at the rate of 11km/hr, the hurricane has now weakened. It will still move westwards and then will lose strength as it enters the land.

To prepare in advance for the calamity several contingency measures were taken by the coastal nations of Latin America. Nicaragua has evacuated 35000 people living in the coastal parts of the country.

With major of its oil field on the ports, Mexico closed down all of its ports on the eastern coastal side. Also there government have declared emergency in the states of Campeche, Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapa. All boats have been ordered to stay off the coasts and people were also alerted about the storm.

According to various news agencies the storm has lost its initial strength. But after crossing the land when it again enters water the storm may regain its strength. According to weather agencies max velocity of wind recorded was 64km/hr.

Five people have been confirmed dead as storm related casualties. These casualties occurred due to the plane accident in Honduras due to the storm.

The weather department has predicted a pretty busy season in terms of hurricanes and typhoons. According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration 16 storms and 5 hurricanes of category three are expected to hit the eastern coast of both the American continents. These storms will be the ones originating in Atlantic Ocean.

As the coasts of both the American continents are heavily prone to such storms and hurricanes the countries have developed a suitable technique for predicting the storms through satellite images. With the help of such warnings many innocent lives are saved from such calamities.
