Santa Monica, Calif. based Activision has announced that it will be providing downloadable Guitar Hero expansion tracks for the Wii users. This is the first time Activision has announced in-game downloadable content on Wii.
Unlike Xbox 360 and PS3, Wii does not support any hard drive storage; because of which the game developers do not release downloadable content on Wii. This is believed to be a big problem with Nintendo’s Wii and a concrete solution to the problem is yet to be found by the company.
Instead of having a hard drive storage; Wii supports the use of SD cards for storage. But at present games can’t be played from external cards. However, Wii does have internal storage for saving game content, but it is only 512MB, which is hardly enough to meet the download demands of wired gamers.
Activision's "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," is still doing well but the publishers are wasting no time in coming up with novel ideas and improvements in the franchise. The newly confirmed Guitar Hero World Tour is due out this fall.
According to Activision, will be the "first game ever in the Guitar Hero franchise to allow in-game downloadable content on Wii." The game is in development by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while Budcat handles the PS2 version.
This announcement comes as great news for the Wii owners as the new promo of the game look fabulous. There are a lot of added features in this version of the game.
Guitar Hero, World Tour has the ability to create characters in addition to being able to customize and unlock new instruments like the current versions of the game. The character-creation engine also has customization options like users can tune individual parts of the face rather than selecting solely from presets.
Activision also announced that unlike past "Guitar Hero" games made up of sound-alike bands mixed with genuine recordings, "Guitar Hero World Tour" songs will be comprised entirely of original master recordings from some of the biggest names in classic and contemporary rock including The Eagles, Van Halen, Linkin Park and Sublime.
These revealings make the wait for the game even harder. Before the release of this game, there are a few releases which can help in making this wait a bit easy.
Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS will be out June 22, while "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" for the Xbox 360, Wii and PS2/3 will be out June 29.
Happy Gaming!!!
