Ashlee Simpson and rocker Pete Wentz marry in LA

U.S. pop rock singer Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz finally became husband and wife at an intimate ceremony on Saturday. Media reports surfaced yesterday stating that the pair has got hitched Saturday night under tents and amid tight security.

According to People magazine, the ceremony took place Saturday night at Ashlee’s parents' Los Angeles-area home with an Alice in Wonderland theme.

"We're delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married in front of family and close friends," the magazine quoted couple’s spokesperson as saying.

The pop star, 23, and the Fall Out Boy bassist, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests, including Ashlee’s sister Jessica Simpson, her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, and Scrubs actor Donald Faison.

For the ceremony, Ashlee wore an ivory lace wedding gown with a veil by designer Monique Lhuillier accessorized with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane, while the bridesmaids were draped in black Vera Wang numbers. The men were dressed in black tuxes with skinny black ties.

Ashlee’s father Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony for his younger daughter and her groom, and elder sister Jessica Simpson served as maid of honor, the magazine said.

Ashlee and Wentz went public about their relationship a couple of months after they started dating in late 2006. The same year, Simpson, a singer, songwriter and actress, had said in an interview that she was not considering marrying anytime soon. “I definitely want to wait until my late 20s or 30s or whenever the time is right,” she had said.

Of late, the singer had reportedly started joking that between her and her elder sister, Jessica Simpson, she would be the more likely one to get married.

The pair announced their engagement April 9. Ashlee Simpson announced her engagement to Pete Wentz through a post on friendsorenemies.com. "We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best," Simpson said at the time in a statement.

"Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us.”

Last month, a family source confirmed rumors that Ashlee and her fiancé Pete Wentz are expecting their first child together this fall. The first Wentz-Simpson offspring is due in October, the source said at the time.
