" title="Ashlee Simpson announces her Engagement to Pete Wentz"/> Ashlee Simpson announced her engagement to Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz through a post on friendsorenemies.com. The two were seeing each other since 2006 and apparently got engaged on Wednesday, the 9th of April. "We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best," Simpson said in the statement. "Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us.” The statement from the singer comes only a month after she laughed off the conjecture on her being engaged and/or pregnant. Back then, Simpson released a statement denying that she had been drunk during a radio interview, as had been considered. "Questions and false rumors about my dad being a jerk, being pregnant, being engaged, etc., are not fun to answer every single day," she said at the time. "Eventually I try to just laugh them off." Simpson, 23, and Wentz, 28, have left the fans and media guessing about the engagement venue. Everything was kept under wraps and they wrote in the post, “We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us.” The couple went public about their relationship a couple of months after they started dating in late 2006. The same year, Simpson had said in an interview that she was not considering marrying anytime soon. “I definitely want to wait until my late 20s or 30s or whenever the time is right,” she had said. Of late, the singer had reportedly started joking that between her and her elder sister, Jessica Simpson, she would be the more likely one to get married. Ashlee Simpson’s two albums received mixed response from the audience. Her third album is due this year. |
