Along with his partner Julianne Hough, who was incidentally two-time champion, the 43-year old comedian had to bow out from the show after they scored just 19 out of a possible 30 points. Probably Carolla’s comic abilities are better than his dancing skills. The judges seemed to be in agreement with this line of thinking as well. Len Goodman, the chief of the panel of judges, said, “You are such a lovable character that (we) just want you to do well, but unfortunately you're not much of a dancer.” For the final results at the end of each week’s performance, the scores handed down by the judges are combined with the votes from the viewers, and the team with the least score/votes gets eliminated. Carolla follows three other stars that have already been eliminated – Steve Guttenberg, Monica Seles, and Penn Jillette. Carolla seemed to take the whole elimination thing in the right spirit. Saying that he had the best time of his life during the four weeks he was part of the show, Carolla said, “I recommend this experience to anyone who's scared of everything. You at home, there’s something that scares you. There’s something that’s your ‘Dancing With the Stars’. Embrace it. Don’t run from it.” Carolla had nice things to say about his partner during the show as well, stating that while he had cut down 25 pounds of fat during the course of his stay at the show, he had also managed to gain ‘105 pounds of angel,’ an obvious reference to his dancing partner Julianne. With Carolla and Julianne’s elimination the stars still left in the race are R&B singer Mario, Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi and pro football star Jason Taylor, along with five actors – Priscilla Priestley, Christian de la Fuente, Shannon Elizabeth, Marlee Matlin, and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Tuesday’s show also had some other highlights besides the elimination. These included a mini-competition between two ball-room dance couples, all of eight years old and also a performance by Sheryl Crow. Crow entertained the audience with two of her hits, the fantastic ‘All I Want to do’ and her newest single release, ‘Out of Our Heads’. |
