"/> Iconic British supermodel Naomi Campbell hits the front-page headlines once again – this time for assaulting a police officer with saliva. Famous for her fashion poses on the catwalk, Campbell was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport Thursday afternoon on suspicion of spitting at a police officer. Nabbed at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5, the model was released on police bail in the wee hours of Friday morning. Campbell, 37, broke into a rage when she realized she had misplaced one of her three carry-on bags. She demanded the airline staff to find her lost bag right that minute and her wrath skyrocketed when the staff responded by saying they will forward the missing parcel to her once it was found. It followed with a lengthy dispute between Campbell and the airline staff that ultimately found her unfit to fly and had to call police to forcibly make Campbell leave. The model reportedly had tried to take too many bags with her into the cabin. Officers were called to the aircraft where they handcuffed Campbell and removed her from the flight. Campbell, screaming, “Get off me, leave me alone,” reportedly aggressively spit at one of the cops who was trying to escort her. She was taken to Heathrow Airport’s police station where she was questioned. Campbell's spokeswoman Annabel Fox today said, "Naomi was flying to Los Angeles for a memorial service on Thursday, April 3. She arrived at Heathrow Terminal 5 in plenty of time, checked her two bags in and was told they would make the flight.” "Once on the plane she was told one bag could not be found and was missing. BA decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly eject her from the flight” he added. "She was taken to the Heathrow police station and released on police bail.” This is not the first time the glamorous beauty’s anger issues have landed her in hot soup. Campbell, who savored stardom quite early in life, has a history of scuffles with her employees and associates that provided a regular fodder for yellow journalism. She has been accused of committing acts of aggression and verbal abuse against some of her employees and associates. Some of them had even filed lawsuit against her. In 2000, she pleaded guilty in a Toronto court to a 1998 assault on Georgina Galanis, her then assistant, whom she had assaulted with a telephone in a hotel room and threatened to throw her out of a moving car. The Canadian court then ordered her to attend anger management classes. In March 2005, she had allegedly slapped assistant Amanda Brack. Italian actress Yvonne Scio has claimed the model left her "covered in blood" after an altercation at the five-star Hotel Eden in Rome. One more employee, Amanda Brack, who claims that the model abused her verbally and physically, has recently sued the model in New York. The London-born beauty in January 2006 admitted that she had hit her Chilean-born former maid, Ana Scolavino, after accusing her of stealing jeans she planned to wear on the Oprah Winfrey television talk show. Campbell, the first black woman to appear on the covers of French and British Vogue, as well as Time magazines, has blamed her sizzling rage on lingering resentment towards her father for abandoning her as a child. |
