" title="Velvet Revolver detaches Frontman Scott Weiland"/> Velvet Revolver yesterday kicked out frontman Scott Weiland from the rock band because he is not completely devoted to the music and the fans, like the rest of the band. The other four members announced on Tuesday that they were parting ways with Weiland. Only about a fortnight ago, Weiland, during a Velvet Revolver concert in Glasgow, told the crowd that they were witnessing the last-ever Velvet Revolver tour. His announcement was confirmed on Tuesday when band members: guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum released a statement declaring the split. “This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn’t 100% committed to either,” Slash said in the statement. “Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on.” Weiland said in response, "The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time.... I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back. This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow band mates in [Stone Temple Pilots] and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang." It is presumed that Weiland would be joining the Stone Temple Pilots for a reunion tour this summer. The reunited band will hold a news conference next week, in which, they are expected to reveal the details concerning the upcoming summer tour. The website of Velvet Revolver does not mention the crack and band’s management, Sanctuary, reportedly said that there would be no further comment, as the press release explained it all. |
