Amanda Overmyer has been voted out of the American Idol show this week after a nation wide vote, and has missed out for a place in the final 10.

The rocker Overmyer, 23, from Mulberry Indiana was a Southern style singer.

In the second consecutive week with the theme as Beatles, Overmyer chose to sing “Back in the U.S.S.R”.

After millions of Idol fans voted for their favorites, Amanda was placed in the bottom three along with Carly Smithson and Kristy Lee Cook.

Overmyer thus came very close but finally just misses out on the final 10 and will therefore not go for the American Idol tour.

After her elimination, Overmyer told Idol host Ryan Seacrest, “It's been a run . . . . . No. 11 out of all them people is more than I could expect.”

Popular American Idol judge Simon Cowell on being asked by Ryan Seacrest if America had voted off the right person said, “Two weeks running, yes.”

Overmyer was well known for her streaked hair and unique, strident style of singing which appealed to enough fans to bring her to the top 11, but not any further.

Also in the show, Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Neil Diamond were named the forthcoming celebrity mentors.

With Overmyers’ elimination, this season’s final 10 contestants have thus been realized.

Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Chikezie Eze , David Archuleta, David Cook, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook, Michael Johns, Ramiele Malubay and Syesha Mercado.

These are the names of the final 10 American Idol contenders who will fight it out for the top prize and the stardom and big bucks that roll along with the title of the American Idol.

The winner will join the ranks of past Idol winners such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
