Microsoft is soon to release the first Service Pack for Windows Vista, which is sure to bring in a number of improvements but does not come without hitches. It is learnt that the Service Pack One (SP1) blocks some third party applications from working.
The software giant has put up a list of applications that are known to be problematic with Vista SP1. The major problem here is that the list includes some security applications such as antivirus programs: Zone Alarm Security Suite 7.1, Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, and BitDefender 10.
Besides, some popular applications like the New York Times Reader are also on the list.
Updates are available for most of these applications and should get you back on track in no time by addressing the issues.
Microsoft issued an update on Wednesday to get the PCs that use Vista ready for SP1 And problems started surfacing right away. Microsoft makes a clean breast that the list issued is not wide-ranging and other problems with the update might appear as well. Restarting Vista is recommended in case of any problems. And if that too doesn’t work, then the best one can do is to check with the vender and see if a new version has been released.
Users of Windows Vista on their computers often complain about the software and hardware compatibility with the software that Microsoft claimed to be its safest ever.
Despite of all the buildup, many users preferred to not switch and keep Windows XP on their computers. Now, a compatibility issue with security programs seems a major hitch that might intimidate users. Hopefully Microsoft will bring out something in favor of SP1 before the company makes it widely available in mid-March.
