Video game firm Activision on Friday (Dec. 7) officially announced that it will soon provide replacement Guitar Hero III discs to all Wii gaming console holders who complained that the music game doesn’t quite fulfill its audio claims.
Activision, the Santa Monica, California-based leading designer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment software, released the popular music game Guitar Hero III : Legends of Rock, the latest installment in the wildly popular franchise “Guitar Hero”, with Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound capabilities.
But, the owners of Wii version of Guitar Hero III have noticed problems with game's audio system. They noticed that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock game does not support Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound systems as advertised, and only outputs monaural sound.
Gamers discovered that the music game was not playable in surround sound or even stereo, and the sound quality of the game was mono only with zero options for stereo sound in the game.
After becoming aware of the audio output glitch, Activision has started working on the issues. The video game maker said it is looking into the problem, and will be offering a free replacement disc for the Wii in 2008.
"We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock,” Rhy-Ming Poon , a spokeswoman at Activision said in an official statement. “We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game.
"We expect to have re-mastered discs available by early 2008 and we will be offering consumers replacement discs at no cost once they become available. We thank all of our customers for their support and patience."
Released on October 28, 2007, the GHIII musical video game comes embedded with several new modes, including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, boss battles, unlockable content, original artists’ recordings, authentic rock venues and an online multiplayer mode that allows global players to compete head-to-head.
Nevesoft is the developer of the game for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii consoles, while RedOctane is the publisher and Activision is the distributor of the Game. RedOctane, the publisher of Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II, was acquired by Activision in May 2006.
For the first time ever, the music video game features new wireless guitars, based on Gibson Guitar's Les Paul model for Wii, 360 and PS3, and Kramer models for PS2. In order to give gamers greater feel and rocking experience, Activision has bundled these guitars with removable face plates that allows fans to personalize their guitars and a new button color design that is integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience.
