Katie makes her hubby feel proud by running at marathon

Hollywood actress Katie Holmes on Sunday made surprise run at the New York City Marathon, making her parents and husband feel proud. The 28-year-old actress finished the race in 5 hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds, putting herself in 34,195th place.

Wearing a Fire Department of New York (FDNY) baseball cap and F127 number on her purple tank top for the run, Katie kept a low profile for much of the race, as she labored along with 40,000 other long-distance runners to finish the 26.2 mile marathon.

"It was great. I'm a little tired, it was very challenging, but it was worth it," Katie said after completing the race.

The American actress was greeted heartily by her parents, proud husband Tom Cruise, his mother and 18-month-old daughter Suri at the finish line in Central Park at around 3:30 p.m.

"She was impressive. She trained just a little over two months. It's impressive, it was so much fun today. Suri loved it. She's a runner too," the ‘Mission Impossible’ hero said.

Hours after completing the Marathon, Katie stepped out to join her superstar hubby at a screening of his new movie, "Lions for Lambs," an MGM release, opens Friday.

While showing up at the Museum of Modern Art for the screening, Katie was looking so fresh and glowing in an all-black dress that also included open-toed heels.

After the movie, the family members took lavish congratulatory dinner at New York's Tavern On The Green, hosted by Tom for Katie.

Cruise made his acting debut in 1981 with a small role in Endless Love. He has been rated thrice (1990, 1991, 1997) by the People magazine among the 50 most beautiful people in the world. He is an Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe Award-winning American actor and film producer.

Holmes first leading role came in Disturbing Behavior (1998) for which she bagged the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance.

The actress has also been named by both the British and American editions of FHM magazine as one of the sexiest women in the world from 1999 forward. She also has the credit of being named one of People's "50 Most Beautiful People" in 2003.

Cruise had been married twice before. He got married to Mimi Rogers in 1987 but their relation soon ended in 1990. Cruise then met Nicole Kidman. The couple got married in 1990 and divorced in 2001. The couple adopted two children, Isabella Jane and Connor Anthony.

Before dating Holmes in April 2005 Cruise was romantically linked with Penélope Cruz, the lead actress in his film Vanilla Sky. However, their relationship did not work and in March 2004, Cruise announced that his relationship with Penélope Cruz had ended in January.

Cruise and Holmes, who was previously engaged to "American Pie" actor Chris Klein, together have one child. Holmes gave birth to a baby girl named Suri Cruise on April 18 last year at St. John's Medical Center in Santa Monica, California.

Suri, meaning 'princess' in Hebrew and 'red rose’ in Persian was hidden from public view for quite some time. But this is not strange as Cruise’s and Kidman’s adopted children weren't photographed until 1996, when son Connor was a year old and daughter Isabella was 3.
