Now, Google has made it possible for people publishing in the AdSense network to access YouTube videos that support advertisements. The AdSense network is also owned by Google. Google said Monday the ads on the YouTube videos include video ads as well as text overlay ads.

The video ads would sit on top of the video window, while the text overlay ads would occupy about 20% of the bottom of the video frame. In a blog post, Google’s product marketing manager for AdSense, Christine Lee, said the video units would now make it possible for publishers on AdSense to show videos from content partners on YouTube.

Christine further said the video units were supported by advertisements. She also said the ads would be relevant to the contents on the site, both video as well as text. Besides, the ads would not take away from the relevance or importance of the content of the site.

Talking about the revenues generated from the ads, Christine said the AdSense Publishers and the content partners of YouTube would share the revenue generated from the ads. The video units would, therefore, make it possible for the two parties to earn more revenue.

The launching of the ad-supported YouTube videos for publishers on the AdSense network that Google owns is not a sudden new development. In fact, Google has already been testing out the video units for AdSense over the past year. Pilots during this period have included ad-supported content offerings from the music industry. This includes content from MTV Networks, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group.

What this means is anyone publishing in English on the AdSense network can, on signing into his account, create HTML code that would make it possible to embed the ad-supported YouTube videos in question into a web page on the network.

A publisher on the AdSense network can opt for one of three ways to select what video content they want to embed on their page. They can choose which content provider they want, or they can choose definite categories of content. Alternatively, they can also opt for an automatic targeting process. The automated process parses relevant keywords on the web page.

On the AdSense site, Google put up a statement that said the videos would be automatically updated at specific intervals so users do not get bored of seeing the same ads all the time.
