" title="George Clooney and girlfriend injured in motorcycle crash"/> George Clooney and his girlfriend, Sarah Larson, had to be hospitalized on Friday after the two received injuries in a road accident. Clooney and his companion were knocked off the motorcycle they were riding when a car collided with their vehicle in New Jersey. Clooney, 46, suffered a broken rib and scrapes while his companion Sarah Larson, 28, broke her foot in the collision. Fortunately both were wearing helmets and escaped head-injuries. They were treated at the Palisades Medical Center, across the Hudson River from Manhattan, and were released, Clooney's spokesman Stan Rosenfield said. "He's doing fine," Rosenfield said of his client. "He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal." The ‘Ocean’s 11’ star was reportedly driving his Harley-Davidson north on Boulevard East in Weehawken, N.J., and sped up to pass on the right of a 1999 Mazda Millenia that was preparing to make a right turn, said Weehawken police Sgt. Sean Kelly. The accident is under investigation and it is still not known if the Mazda's driver used a turn signal. However, Clooney had a different story. He told the cops that he was driving in the right lane when the other driver sped up to try and pass him before making a right turn. “It’s a he-said, she-said right now, but you can’t pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey,” Kelly said. The actor and his girlfriend were together during his day off from the production of his latest film, a dark comedy, the Coen brothers' "Burn After Reading," co-starring Brad Pitt, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand. According to Rosenfield, Clooney's recovery shouldn't interrupt the production's schedule. The Hollywood hunk, who was awarded an Oscar last year for his supporting role in the political thriller ‘Syriana,’ has been spotted with Larson at several film festivals and movie premieres in recent weeks. |
