Visa controversy forces Lily Allen to cancel US tour

you guys are ignorant of the u.s. customs. There are hundreds of poor Australians, Brits and new Zealanders that get held by u.s. customs for hours to even days for no apparent reason, I have had it happen to some of my Aussie friends, and i guess it happens enough that many Aussies and NZ people are deciding not to holiday or travel to the u.s.

the U.S customs and immigration officials are very professionals and i dont think they would strip search anyone without serious reasons to believe...maybe she was smoking pot on the plane lol....but anyways if she had a prior criminal record ,,they dont want her here period.nobody said anything when snopp dogg and didy were banned from england and australia...
i heard shhe degraded the texans and Bush and called them low life and other things..lol but it aint Bush who banned her...the immigration officer is the authority in this case or the fed courts if it goes to an appeal

I'm sorry but US officials do not strip search someone over a simple visa revocation. Unless she has a drug charge or violent weapons charge, they just put her in a controlled area and she waits until her return flight. This is nothing but trying to make the US more of the "bad guy"

You guys are quite wrong. This has nothing to do with gossip. This is the same communist like behavior that the US invoked against John Lennon. How does the US have any realistic gripe with her over something minor event in London, it's smoke and mirrors people.

It's ridiculous and a gross misuse of VISA power. The US is losing money by not letting this woman in the country and she certainly poses no threat to national security just as John Lennon didn't. How are we the land of the free, the melting pot, the land of opportunity when we are targeting people to revoke their VISA's on completely insignificant charges, while at the same time letting our domestic celebs go with a slap on the wrists for felony drug crimes and murder.

It's insulting to see the government operate this way. We have a constant stream of illegal immigrants coming here to live off out infrastructure and the government can't manage to do a damn thing about that, oh but they can spend tens of thousands of dollars investigating and revoking this womans VISA who was bound to make money for American resellers and media stations.

So we let in the illegal drug dealers and criminals from Mexico, but not the pop singer.

They strip searched her ? So, we have government sanctioned sexual harassment now. What did they think, she is a drug lord or a gun runner or a terrorists. Maybe she has a WMD in her bra. What grounds did they strip search her on ?

This is a ridiculous misuse of power and tax dollars, for nothing. Ultimately we lose money by denying a popular entertainer entrance into the country and we take from our citizens their right to watch her perform here in the US, which of course loses the country millions of dollars in entertainment and retail sales. Yet another day when I'm ashamed to be an American.

At some point, foreign investors and entertainers are just going to give up on the US as we slip further into complete irrelevance. I recommend they do so ASAP. There is just no REAL reason foreign businesses (especially Europeans who's dollar is worth far more than ours) needs to cater to the US's retarded foreign policy issues. Denying wealthy and talented people from out country is just NOT what America is about at all. This is anti-American behavior. We are the melting pot, not a nation of elitists who deny entrance to talented and popular performers for personal reasons.

She insulted Bush and now she can't come into the country. They did the same thing to Lennon as he stood up against the Vietnam War, which was eventually seen for failed government policy that it was. This is NOT acceptable immigration policy, targeting people who do not share you political views and using some BS to back it up is not justice or liberty. Her VISA was not revoked for any other reason than she gained the displeased attention of some government official who then, as usual, wielded their power unjustly to get immigration to harass her. It's certainly not a coincidence since few people would agree her charges warrant her VISA to be revoked.

Is that the kind of nation you really want to live in? One that wields law for the sake of favoritism ? Yea, you can enter our country if you are a wealthy relative of a famous terrorists (we'll even charter special flights for you), but noway we can let Lily Allen in .

So Bin Laden's relatives VISA didn't get revoked, but this pop singers did. Anyone else see that as favoritism ?

Nut -- a little harsh -- if she is still only ALLEGED in that assault. And - let's hear both sides -- these photogs can get unbearably nasty and pushy, even to being physical. We just don;t know. But when we let terrorists like Posada and others like child-molesting priests in with no problem....this is silly.
